We are Behaviourist Groomers, which means we properly understand dog behaviour so are able to work with the dog to help them learn how to trust us and therefore enjoy the experience.

Whether your dog needs a full makeover, some maintenance between grooms or a great bath and deshed; we can help.

Bring your dog to us for the best groom in town. Your pooch will be pampered all while being made to feel comfortable during their stay.

We can give guidance on specific grooms and we do the best we can to give your dog the groom you want.

If it's only nails that need doing - just pop in anytime we are open - no need to book.

About The Groom

What is included in all grooms

Apart from the technical aspects of a groom like bathing, drying, brushing and combing and/or styling as per your groom requirement we undertake the following at all times:

Assessment of your dog's coat.
Discussion with you regarding groom requirement.
Tender loving care and respect.
And as part of the grooming process your dog has a full body massage - just as if they were at a spa!

Shampoos & Tools

We use only the highest quality dog shampoos and conditioners however if you would like to bring your own shampoo then you are more than welcome.

The equipment we use is of the highest quality that the dog grooming industry provides; which ensures your dog's comfort is met at all times.

We ensure that everyone, you, your dog and us as groomers enjoy the outcome of your dog's grooming treatment with us.

What happens to my dog before or after a groom?

During The Groom

Your dog will be allowed to relax on our sofas, play with safe toys, and if they need a toilet break they can go outside in our small secure garden whenever they need to.

They can choose to mix with any other customers or have a space of their own where they are not disturbed.

We have separate areas where your dog can go if they need it.

Being behaviourists and groomers means we are always making sure that your dog is as comfortable as possible in our salon; whether that be before, during or after their groom.

We don't generally use crates or pens but do have them available should you wish for your dog to have the option to use one.

With your dog comfortably on the grooming table we assess the condition of their coat in relation to what your requirements are.

Depending on size your dog is then gently lifted or helped into the bath where they will be washed, conditioned and rinsed in warm water and appropriate shampoo & conditioner.

After the bath we dry the coat using a range of by hand techniques which your dog let's us know they are comfortable with. This could be partly in the bathing area or back on the grooming table.

Once your dog is back on the grooming table we will work with them to style their coat as required by you while still ensuring your dog's comfort needs are continued.

Groom options

Bath & Dry

Warm water wash with shampoo and conditioning treatment, complete rinsing.
Full dry.
Brush and comb through and/or de-shedding treatment as necessary.
Nail clip.

Maintenance

Includes everthing in the Bath & Dry option plus:

Maintenance styling

Face trim.
Paw trim.
Under tail trim.
Ear plucking (if necessary)
Ear cleaning (if necessary)

Full Groom

Includes everything in the Bath & Dry and Maintenance options plus

Full styling

This includes trimming, clipping or hand-stripping in accordance with your wishes and discussions with us as to the styling options your dog needs or could have.

Understanding Grooming Pricing

General Conditions

We can give you a price for a groom that is a generalisation but every dog is an individual so pricing does depend on the following:

Condition of the dog's coat.
Requirements of the carer in conjunction with the condition of the coat.
Dog's behaviour (a settled dog is easier and quicker to groom than one that is nervous, unsettled or unhappy). If a dog is worried then we need to take more time to help them.
Regularity of grooming - if your dog's coat really requires more frequent grooming than you are able to book then the groom takes longer and therefore will cost more.

Groomer Differences

Groomers are different - and your dog knows it. Each groomer will have their own temperament and style in which they work. We aim to help dog's in our care learn to trust us as we know a trusting dog means the groom time is usually minimised.

While actual grooming styles don't tend to vary much between experienced groomers, the process for your dog can be quite different.

We understand dogs, their likes, dislikes and individual quirks and we will adjust how we work with them to bring the best out in your dog while being groomed by us.

Dog Size Differences

The size of your dog doesn't always make a groom price cheaper or more costly.

A 35kg German Shepherd can take a lot less time to complete a full groom on than a 12kg Cocker Spaniel.

The coats are different as well as the groom requirements.

Our pricing also reflects the length of time it takes to complete a groom; our vast knowledge and experience means that we can often take less time while still ensuring the best in grooming practices.

How Can You Help

Apart from maintaining your dog's coat in between professional grooms the following can also help:

Dogs feed off their carer's emotions; be happy and confident and your dog will often be happy and confident too, they will trust that you are taking them to a great place.

Most dogs actually do like being bathed and pampered; the love the attention - try not to threaten your dog with a bath or a groom and they will love it even more.

Trust Us. We really do know what we are doing and only want the best for your dog. We have seen most dog behaviours in the salon and understand how to work with the dog for the best outcome.
